Staffy Days
The short version: there's no account. Your dogs, logs, photos and notes stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. We can't see them. The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports so we can fix bugs. They aren't linked to you, and you can turn them off with one switch in Settings. We don't show ads, track you across apps, or sell anything about you.
Staffy Days is made by Paweł Gol, an independent developer ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the small amount of data described below. Contact: support@staffydays.com.
Everything you enter is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for the app, it's also stored in your private iCloud database, so it syncs between your devices. That includes:
We have no server that receives this data, and we have no way to read your iCloud data. Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy. It leaves your devices only when you share it yourself, for example when you send a vet report PDF, a Pet CV or a sitter card.
Photos are only read when you pick them with the photo picker. The app never browses your library. Saving a share card to Photos needs your permission, and the app uses that only to add the image.
Health reminders and the optional streak nudge are local notifications, scheduled on your iPhone. They don't go through any server.
To learn which features help and to fix crashes, the app sends two kinds of anonymous data. Both are switched off with Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage & crash reports.
| What | Provider | What's sent | What's never sent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage statistics | PostHog, EU Cloud (Frankfurt, Germany) | App opened/installed, onboarding steps, the type of log added (e.g. "walk"), badges and levels reached, paywall shown, and Journal Pro purchases (product, price, currency). Also the app version, device model and iOS version, plus a random ID created on your device. | Your name, email, Apple ID, dog names, notes, photos, health details, location, IP address (dropped on arrival) |
| Crash and error reports | Sentry, EU region (Germany) | The technical details of a crash, freeze or failed save: stack trace, app version, device model, iOS version, free memory/storage. | Screenshots, screen contents, user ID, IP address, anything you typed |
This data isn't linked to your identity and isn't used for tracking or advertising. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), and you can object at any time with the switch above. We keep usage statistics for up to 12 months and crash reports for up to 90 days.
Journal Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment and never shares your card or Apple ID with us. The app checks your purchase with Apple on your device to unlock Pro features. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
Only the providers named above (Apple, PostHog and Sentry), acting for us as processors under data processing agreements. We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. Where a provider may access data from outside the UK/EEA, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data. Because the analytics and crash data we hold isn't tied to your identity, we usually can't find "your" records. Email us anyway and we'll help however we can. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the ICO in the UK or your local EU supervisory authority.
Staffy Days is a general-audience app for dog owners. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
